Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All compression happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
Which format should I choose?
JPEG is universally supported and great for photos. WebP offers 25-35% better compression than JPEG with similar quality, but older browsers may not support it.
What quality setting should I use?
70% is a good balance for most photos. Use 50% for maximum compression when quality is less critical. Use 85%+ for high-quality images.
Why is the compressed file sometimes larger?
This can happen when converting from an already-compressed format (like optimized PNG) to a different format at high quality. Try lowering the quality slider.
