Frequently Asked Questions

How are words counted?
Words are counted by splitting text on whitespace (spaces, tabs, newlines). Consecutive whitespace is treated as a single separator. An empty input returns zero words.
Does the character count include spaces?
Yes. The 'Characters' stat includes all characters, including spaces. A separate 'Characters (no spaces)' stat is also provided for your convenience.
What is the maximum text length?
The tool supports up to 100,000 characters, which is more than enough for blog posts, essays, and most documents.
How is reading time estimated?
Reading time is calculated at an average of 200 words per minute (adult silent reading speed). Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a typical presentation pace.
